It comes as recent reports state that a staggering 84 per cent of solo travellers are women – and UK Google search data indicating this year will set new records for solo adventures.
While interest in solo travel has spiked by 116 per cent year-on-year, choosing a destination remains the most intimidating hurdle, especially for solo female travellers.
To help steer solo female adventurists in the right direction, a new study has highlighted the best cities across the globe for women travelling on their own.
It analysed several factors, including crime and safety levels, public transport wait times, broadband speeds and solo travel search trends.
Singapore emerged as the top destination for female travellers thanks to its high safety index score of 77.5, its speedy Wi-Fi (407.05 Mbps), and its reliable public transport (six-minute average wait).
The Southeast Asian city boasts a tropical climate, tranquil beaches and plenty of green space, making it an ideal holiday hotspot for travellers seeking sun, sea and outdoor activities.
According to data compiled by global pet-sitting service TrustedHousesitters, demand for ‘Singapore holidays’ has risen by 27 per cent over the past month compared to last year, keeping it a hidden gem for solo female travellers.

New York City, meanwhile, ranks as the second best destination for women travelling alone, with a crime rate of 21.1 out of 100, a high internet speed of 295.18 Mbps, and an average wait of 8 minutes for public transport.
With everything in walking distance, New York’s gems are easy to discover – and women can stay connected to the internet even if navigating the city alone.
Dubai might be a premier destination for many holidaymakers, but it ranks third globally for solo female travel due to its exceptional safety.
The UAE city boasts an impressive 83.9/100 index score and very low crime rates, offering a secure, well-connected environment filled with unique experiences.
For British travellers who’d prefer a staycation, London also makes the top ten, placing ninth overall.
The UK’s sees around 21,000 monthly searches for solo travel – and the UK’s capital is ideal for those who want to meet new people and explore vibrant, cultural and historical gems across the city.
Thanks to its speedy, expansive Transport for London network and average taxi time wait of just eight minutes, exploring London is safe and efficient.
Other destinations ranked among the top ten global solo travel destinations for women include Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, Amsterdam, Abu Dhabi, and Bangkok.

‘The trick is to be open and curious to new opportunities as they arise and say “yes” to invitations – even if you feel a bit shy about doing so,’ Lee says, ‘Volunteering (e.g. teaching English) can be a great way of meeting new people as you travel alone, especially in big cities.’
