Health officials have issued an urgent recall for dietary supplements after dozens were sickened with salmonella.
The FDA and CDC are currently investigating an outbreak of salmonella linked to Live it Up-brand Super Greens dietary supplement powder.
The potentially deadly bacteria sickens more than a million Americans every year and leads to bloody diarrhea, cramps and vomiting.
New York-based Superfoods, Inc, which makes the powders, voluntarily recalled its original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 through January 2028 on Wednesday after the FDA and CDC recommended the products be removed from shelves.
The CDC’s collected data found 45 people were infected with salmonella between August 22, 2025, and December 30, 2025, 20 of whom reporting consuming the supplements.
There have been 12 hospitalizations, and no deaths have been reported.
Infected individuals lived in 21 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.
The investigation is ongoing, with the FDA warning additional products may be contaminated with salmonella.

The FDA urged consumers who purchased the affected powders not to consume them. They should instead dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
CDC officials also recommended washing and sanitizing items or surfaces that may have come into contact with the powders to reduce the risk of the bacteria spreading.
Salmonella is usually found in foods contaminated with animal feces and is most common in poultry, red meat, dairy products, eggs, fish, fruits and vegetables.
It strikes 1.3 million Americans every year, hospitalizes 26,500 and kills around 400.
However, because salmonella often causes no symptoms and goes undiagnosed, case numbers are likely much higher.

Symptoms include bloody diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps that begin six hours to six days after initial infection, according to the CDC.
Unlike most bacteria, once consumed some strains of salmonella can survive the stomach acid and travel into the intestines.
Once there, they burrow into the cells lining the organ, causing inflammation, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever.
The bacteria may also enter the bloodstream and travel to other organs.
Most people recover without treatment within four to seven days, but children under age five and adults 65, as well as those with weakened immune systems, are more prone to hospitalizing illnesses such as bloodstream infections.
