Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe has launched a scathing attack on Labour’s approach to illegal migration, calling their proposals “verbal baby food” whilst advocating for a strict “detain and deport” policy.
Speaking to GB News, the Great Yarmouth MP dismissed Labour’s new migration strategy and outlined his vision for a tougher stance on illegal entries to Britain.
Lowe expressed particular scepticism towards Sir Keir Starmer’s ability to handle the crisis, stating: “I don’t trust Keir Starmer, a human rights lawyer, to deal with this. And I don’t trust Yvette Cooper.”
The Reform UK MP insisted that Britain must treat illegal migration as a “national emergency” requiring extreme measures to address the mounting challenges facing the nation’s borders.

In an exclusive interview with GB News’s Christopher Hope, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper unveiled the Government’s latest plans to tackle migration, claiming that people traffickers have had it their way “for far too long”.
Cooper stated: “The plan for change the Prime Minister set out before Christmas is clear about that it needs to reduce illegal migration. And that means tackling and preventing these dangerous boat crossings.
“So, this new law [Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill] will bring in counter-terror style powers to go after the criminal gangs, because they are undermining our border security. They’re putting lives at risk. And frankly, they have been getting away with it for far too long.”
Delivering his verdict on the 78-page Bill, Lowe outlined his straightforward three-point plan for addressing illegal migration: “It starts with detain, and then it’s followed by deport, deport, deport.”
While acknowledging Britain’s tradition of compassion, he insisted: “If they are genuinely asylum seekers, there should be a mechanism to help them. But this is being abused.”

Lowe revealed that parliamentary questions had exposed concerning details about the Home Office’s operations, suggesting ministers were unaware of activities conducted in their name.
“I think we have an incompetent bunch of ministers who are not fit to be governing the country,” he told GB News.
Addressing the scale of the crisis, Lowe cited recent research suggesting that as many as one-in-12 people in London may be illegal migrants.
“We have no idea how many of these people are here illegally,” he warned.

The MP stressed that continued accommodation of illegal migrants “will destroy the fabric of our country”.
Lowe also highlighted the financial implications for British taxpayers, arguing for more efficient Government oversight of resources.
“The bottom line is, they should be putting the interests of the British taxpayers first,” Lowe insisted.
He concluded with a stark reminder, arguing: “We’re the people who’ve built this country into what it is, and these people are coming here illegally. Illegal means illegal.”
