LG has recalled 500,000 electric range ovens due to a fire hazard that has caused extensive property damage, minor injuries and killed several pets.
The Korea-based company recalled 22 models of its Slide-In and Freestanding Electric Ranges after finding the front-mounted knobs can be accidently activated by humans or pets.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received at least 86 reports of unintentional activation, which has caused more than 28 fires.
‘At least five fires caused extensive property damage totaling over $340,000. At least eight minor injuries have been reported, including burns, and there have been reports of three fires involving pet deaths,’ CSPC shared.
The recalled models include LDE4411ST, LDE4413ST, LDE4413BD, LSE4611ST, LSE4611BD, LSE4613ST, LSE4613BD, LSEL6337D, LSEL6337F, LSEL6331F, LSEL6331F, LSEL6333F, LSEL6333F, LSEL6333D, LSEL6333D, LSEL6335D, LSEL6335F, LTE4815BM, LTE4815BD, LTE4815ST, LRE4215ST and LTEL7337F.
The model numbers are found inside the oven door or storage drawer located on the bottom of the oven
The ovens were sold from 2015 through January 2025 at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe’s and other appliance stores nationwide and online at LG.com.
CSPC is urging owners of the faulty ovens to contact LG to request a free warning sticker and instructions on using the Control Lock or Lock Out feature.

‘Consumers are cautioned to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving home or going to bed, and not to leave objects on the range when the range is not in use,’ said CSPC.
The recall was announced on February 6, which includes ranges manufactured in Korea and Mexico.
Unlike most recalls that refund consumers, LG is only providing people with warning stickers to place on the oven.
Samsung, another major appliance maker, issued a recall last August for 1.1 million electric range ovens for fire hazards.
At least 18 of the fires caused major property damage and seven killed pets, according to CPSC.
Samsung warned that fires can be caused by pets – or humans – knocking into the knobs that control the stovetops.
The recalled ranges were sold between May 2013 and August 2024 online at Samsung.com as well as in retailers nationwide – including Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot and Lowe’s.
Samsung will provide new knobs or a cover for them.

The slide-in ranges have front-mounted knobs that can be activated by accident if humans or pets unintentionally contact or bump into them.
Videos show pets jumping onto ranges and pawing at the controls – accidentally igniting fires.
In June, a dog in Colorado did exactly that. Home security video showed boxes on top of the stove catching on fire.
As part of general stovetop and oven safety, the Commission added that consumers should ‘never place, leave, or store anything on the top of your range’ when not in use – as such items can ignite if it’s accidentally activated.
The CPSC is investigation the spate of fire caused by stoves – when pets jump or people bump into them.
In June, the watchdog said it ‘is aware of incidents where houses burned, and people died, from house fires started by range knobs accidentally turned on whether from people bumping into the knobs or pets activating the range. The issues affect both gas and electric ranges.’
