Nobody’s day is totally perfect, no matter what it appears like on the surface. But if I am lucky enough to enjoy a couple of these things in a day, I will go to bed happy!
As much as I despise my alarm waking me up, I like forcing myself to be a morning person; I find I can get so much more done if I wake up relatively early and being productive helps energise me.
The day must begin, however, in true British fashion with a cup of tea – Assam being my favourite blend – enjoyed at a leisurely pace whilst catching up on social media and the news I may have missed overnight.
I tend to make myself a protein shake before taking it to my local gym in West London to enjoy after my workout.
If I’m not heading to the GB News studio or a Royal engagement, I like treating myself to a quick swim, sauna and steam room – although I rarely have time for this luxury!
I find exercising clears my head, sets me up nicely for the day ahead, and makes me not feel too guilty about my next activity – brunch.

There are some wonderful independent eateries to enjoy in London.
My usual go-to would be an Eggs Royale (smoked salmon and poached eggs), a coffee and some kind of fruit juice – but I can absolutely demolish a Full English if I am in the mood for one!
Next, it all depends on the weather.
If torrential downpours pursue, I like stimulating my love of royal history by visiting one of the many resplendent royal residences open to the public across the United Kingdom.
Living up to the stereotype of an overly keen royal correspondent, and walking through timeless palatial corridors, I’m genuinely never happier than when discovering hidden gems, easily missed when studying photographs or film footage.

When I have had enough of nosing around King Charles’ homes, it will be time to relax with another cup of tea (I go through a fair few cups a day) and a good book.
I used to be terrible at finishing novels, but if I’m lucky enough to find a really engaging book, I now find it hard to put down – although usually I only have time when I’m on holiday.
‘The Song of Achilles’, as well as ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ have been particular favourites of mine for their Royal / LGBTQ+ themes, but Charles Spencer’s (Princess Diana’s brother) harrowing autobiographical account of his time at boarding school, which I recently finished, was particularly moving.
Then, it’s time for lunch and nothing beats a great British pub for a roast with a few pints to wash it down.

I adore the theatre, and living in London means I’m spoilt for choice – so a perfect evening must include a trip to the West End.
Musicals are usually my ‘go to’, but the National Theatre on London’s South Bank performs some gritty dramas.
Having immersed myself in British culture, it’s time for some cocktails with friends.
If we’re lucky with dry weather, I adore a long walk through Richmond Park in South West London; it’s the only part of the capital where you can easily be mistaken for thinking you are walking through the countryside.

The deer, the dogs, and the wide open space make this hidden gem a great space to escape the noise of the city.
Of course, my perfect day wouldn’t necessarily be spent in London; I also feel at home on the west coast of Scotland, having spent happy childhood summers there.

If I’m not heading to a lively nightclub, I like finishing the day cosying up to watch one of my favourite films.
Dramas based on true events is my absolute favourite genre (perhaps that is the journalist in me), so ‘Argo’, ‘The Imitation Games’ and ‘Catch Me If You Can’ are some of my favourites.
Then, it’s a decent night’s sleep and ready to attack whatever the next day has in store!
