Ο ένοπλος άνοιξε πυρ μέσα σε εργοστάσιο του δυτικού Μέριλαντ, σκοτώνοντας αρκετούς ανθρώπους, μετέδωσε το δίκτυο NBC.
Η πόλη Σμίθσμπουργκ βρίσκεται περίπου 110 χιλιόμετρα βορειοδυτικά της Ουάσινγκτον.
